Final Project: Monogram (progress)

After showing Mr Choy my ideas and with his ok, I began putting my monogram on my items.

Items I chose:
  • Notebook
  • Phonecase
  • Pencil Case
  • Candle Holder
  • Pillow Case
  • Jewellery Box

Theme:
  • Stripes
  • Warm, Summer colours

Stencils:
For each of the items, I used a photocopy machine to photocopy my design into different sizes to fit the different items so I didn't have to keep drawing the monogram everytime. It saved me a lot of time and kept all the monograms uniform and the same. I got this technique from my figure drawing class.

Notebook

 Background:

For the background, I wanted to create my own pattern so I used one of my monograms and scanned it.
I edited them together to create a geometric pattern.

 My first design:

It didn't turn out as nice because the colours weren't vivid enough when printed out so I tried another colour combination:

This one worked out much better.
I also stuck on a transparent plastic sheet so the cut-out front cover was more sturdy.

Phone Case
First, I cut out the monogram to trace only to stencil

I used masking tape to create the stencil.

The purple one didn't come out as nice cos the paint came off as I was removing the tape.

Pencil Case
I bought the fabric and zipper at Daiso and decided to hand-sew the pencil case.
The fabric was too thin so I folded it over to make it thicker.

I used fabric paint and dabbed the paint over the stencil using a sponge.

Candle Holder

I used mod podge and painted it all over the cup then sprinkling the glitter over it, making it have a gradient effect.

Pillow Case

Using the remaining fabric from the pencil case, I made a pillow but used black fabric on the back.
I hand-sewn the sides then turned it inside out.

I created a seal using velcro so you can take out the pillow.

Jewellery box

I used the stencil to trace it on the box. I ended up not carving the circle.

I created a stripe design in the logo to match the theme.

Conclusion:
Every one of my items in some way, follows the overall theme of my project which ties all the items together. These are also items which say something about me. Notebook and pencil case because I love drawing. Pillow case and candle because I love sleeping,  phone case because I am addicted to my phone and jewellery box because I love accessories.
